Schmidt Century Farm
The Schmidt Family has been actively farming since 1865. Currently, Roger is the 6th generation of Schmidt’s who still work the original farmland. Roger has been farming with his dad Herbie his whole life. He started out feeding animals and then progressed to working the land and milking cows. In 2001, Herbie decided to stop milking dairy cows, so Roger decided to buy Beef Cattle instead. Thus, starting the next generation of farming.
Roger has been growing his own herd of Registered Black Angus Cattle. He is also expanding the pork and chicken operation. He grows and harvests his own food from the land to feed all the animals including no-till and pasture rotation methods.
Roger and Deanna got married in 2014 and bought the farm from Rogers parents. The farm is also home to three wonderful kids: Vanessa, Jillian and Rodee. There is lots of family fun and laughter. The family enjoys working together on 4H projects and helping out with the FFA kids. Our extended family is also a big part of the daily farm activities. We are also grateful to have our dads help out on the farm, it is definitely a family run farm.
